In view of the Shri Amarnath Yatra, Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakina Ittoo convened a high-level review meeting at the Civil Secretariat to assess preparations for the pilgrimage, Muharram, and the monsoon season. Senior officials from various departments participated in the meeting and apprised the Minister of the status of preparations.
Emphasizing the need to provide superior healthcare facilities to pilgrims during the Yatra, the Minister directed that round-the-clock medical services be made available at all transit camps and key locations. She instructed officials to ensure adequate stockpiling of medicines, deployment of ambulances, and the availability of trained medical personnel.
Sakina Ittoo directed the Health Department, as well as departments responsible for electricity and water supply, to ensure uninterrupted services throughout the Yatra period. She stressed that pilgrims should face no inconvenience and urged all departments to work in coordination.
The availability of medical equipment and essential medicines at GMC Jammu and other hospitals was also reviewed during the meeting. The Minister directed officials to remain fully prepared to handle any potential emergencies.
While reviewing monsoon preparations, the Minister ordered the acceleration of flood control, drainage, and repair work on damaged infrastructure. She called for special vigilance in vulnerable areas to ensure that people do not face difficulties during the rainy season.
Additionally, instructions were issued to the Health Department to conduct a comprehensive awareness campaign and ensure 100% coverage of children for the Pulse Polio Day scheduled for June 28.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation and the Jammu Development Authority were directed to make sanitation drives, fogging operations, and waste disposal systems more effective. The Minister instructed all departments to complete tasks within stipulated timeframes and conduct regular reviews.
