Anantnag Police nads UAPA accused using Facial Recognition System

Anantnag, 21 July 2025: Using the efficacy of latest surveillance systems, the Anantnag Police nabded a wanted suspect through Facial Recognition System at the X-Ray Point in Ganishbal area of Anantnag district the other day.

The accused, identified as Muneeb Mushtaq Sheikh, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Malik Mohalla, Drangbal Pampore, was apprehended after the Facial Recognition System conformed his presence. He was swiftly detained and shifted to Police Station Pahalgam for further investigations.

Subsequent investigations confirmed that the accused is involved in FIR number 28/2021 under Sections 16, 18, 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Sections 4/5 of the Explosive Substances Act registered at Police Station Pampore.
