Srinagar. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the newly constructed Amira Kadal Foot Bridge in Srinagar on Tuesday. Dedicating the bridge to the public, he said the project will serve as a strong bridge between Srinagar’s traditional heritage and modern urban amenities.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that under the Smart City project, the administration has prioritized the development of modern infrastructure while preserving the city’s historical identity. The Amira Kadal Foot Bridge is a result of this vision, developed as a safe, convenient, and cultural public space for citizens.
He explained that the old Amira Kadal Bridge was redesigned in 2023. The new version has been developed in a way that preserves its historical features while providing modern amenities to pedestrians.
According to officials, this wooden Kadal Bridge will facilitate pedestrian movement across the Jhelum River. This will ensure better connectivity to key commercial and heritage areas such as the Jhelum Riverfront, Goni Khan, Maharaja Bazaar, and Hari Singh High Street.
The Lieutenant Governor stated that whether it is footbridges, riverfront developments, or public parks, the administration aims to revive Srinagar’s historical heritage and provide better public spaces to its citizens.
Locals welcomed the inauguration of the Amira Kadal Foot Bridge, calling it an important and useful project for the city.
