The organizational structure of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Jammu and Kashmir has seen significant expansion over the past year. This growing influence and the organization’s activities were discussed in detail at the recent All India Representative Assembly meeting held in Samalkha, Haryana. The meeting, which ran from March 13th to 15th, focused on key issues such as social harmony, organizational expansion, and community participation in the national interest.

During a press conference in Jammu, State Sanghchalak Dr. Gautam Mengi and State Co-Sanghchalak Dr. Vikrant Sharma stated that the number of RSS branches in the state has increased from 678 to 735. Additionally, 394 weekly meetings and congregations are regularly held at 407 locations. Significantly, 137 weekly meetings are being organized for volunteers over the age of 40, demonstrating the organization’s broad reach.

Several significant events were also held in Jammu and Kashmir as part of the RSS’s centenary year. Among these, a seminar for advocates at the Jammu and Kashmir High Court complex on the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was prominent, in which Dr. Kuldeep Agnihotri delivered his views as the keynote speaker. In another program, Co-Sarkaryavah Dr. Krishna Gopal elaborated on the RSS’s ideology and methodology.
Dattatreya Hosabale addressed a large public meeting organized at the Convention Center in Jammu on the RSS’s 100-year journey. He highlighted the organization’s historical journey and current direction, emphasizing the need to further strengthen dialogue and solidarity in society.

Under the “Griha Sampark Abhiyan” (Home Contact Campaign), over 4.93 lakh families were contacted in Jammu and Kashmir between November 2 and November 30, 2025. More than 11,000 workers played an active role in this campaign. Furthermore, 745 Hindu conferences were held in the state from December 1, 2025, to January 11, 2026, with participation of over 400,000 people.

During the meeting, a special discussion was held regarding the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas Ji. In his address, Dattatreya Hosabale expressed concern over the growing divisive tendencies in society and appealed to embrace Sant Ravidas’s message of harmony and unity. Various programs have also been planned for this occasion next year to ensure participation from every section of society.

The Sangh leadership says that in the coming times, along with organizational expansion, efforts to bring about positive change in society will be intensified. The Sangh’s increased activity and public relations campaigns in Jammu and Kashmir clearly indicate that the organization is continuously moving forward towards strengthening its roots.

BSF Jawan Dies in NCB Custody: Claims ‘Two Cardiac Attacks’, Family Alleges BeatingJNM Journalist Hardeep Jamwal, JammuThe death of BSF Jawan Jaswinder Singh, a resident of RS Pura, Jammu, while in Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) custody has sparked outrage across the region. While the NCB has attributed the death to two cardiac events (heart attacks), the deceased’s family has made serious allegations, alleging that Jaswinder Singh was severely beaten while in custody.According to the NCB, Jaswinder Singh was detained in Jammu on March 3 for questioning in a drug trafficking case. On March 12, he was formally arrested in a case of trafficking tramadol and commercial quantities of heroin, after which his detention was repeatedly extended. The agency stated that on March 19, he was taken to Amritsar for further investigation. During interrogation, Jaswinder Singh complained of chest pains, following which he was immediately admitted to the hospital. He suffered two cardiac arrests there and died on the morning of March 20.The NCB maintains that all legal protocols set forth by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Supreme Court are being followed in the case. The post-mortem and investigation are underway in the presence of judicial and executive magistrates. On the other hand, Jaswinder Singh’s family has rejected the agency’s claims, alleging that he was assaulted during custody, which worsened his condition.
