A massive anti-terror search operation in the Manjakote sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district entered its sixth consecutive day on Thursday, as security forces continued an extensive hunt for suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forests and rugged mountainous terrain of the region.
The large-scale operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement and presence of suspected terrorists in the Manjakote area. Since then, joint teams of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and other security agencies have been carrying out coordinated searches across remote forest zones and inaccessible hill areas.
According to officials, the operation is being conducted with a highly strategic approach to ensure that the terrorists do not escape from the cordoned region. Special Army units, Para Commandos, Police Special Operations Group (SOG), and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in the operation.
Security agencies suspect that the terrorists may be hiding in thick forest belts and natural hideouts spread across the hilly terrain. To strengthen surveillance and tracking efforts, modern technology is also being extensively used during the operation. Drone cameras are monitoring high-altitude and inaccessible areas, while helicopters are maintaining aerial surveillance over the entire region.
In addition, sniffer dogs are being used to detect possible hideouts and movement routes of the terrorists. Security personnel are conducting intensive searches in every suspected location while maintaining strict vigilance throughout the operation.
Officials stated that every movement in the forests is being closely monitored, and security forces are leaving no area unchecked. The operation was intensified after agencies received crucial intelligence inputs about possible terrorist presence in the region.
Meanwhile, authorities have also sounded a high alert in the neighboring district of Poonch to strengthen security arrangements. Additional deployments have been made in border and sensitive areas, while vehicles and individuals passing through these regions are undergoing strict checking procedures.
Local residents have been advised to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest security agency. Security officials believe that the operation may continue for the next few days as forces attempt to completely sanitize the area and prevent any possible security threat.
At present, the anti-terror operation continues uninterrupted across the Manjakote region amid heightened security measures in Rajouri and adjoining areas.
