The Pader area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir was rocked on Friday evening when a loud explosion was suddenly heard from the dense forests. The blast was so powerful that its echo was heard several kilometers away, spreading panic among the locals. Immediately after the explosion, a thick cloud of black smoke rising from the forests further increased the public’s anxiety.
According to local villagers, a loud sound first came from the Munang Dhar area of Pader, and within minutes, a cloud of smoke became visible in the sky. The incident sparked various discussions in the area. Some people suspected a helicopter crash, while some schoolchildren claimed to have seen helicopter-like activity in the sky. However, these claims have not yet been officially confirmed.
As soon as the incident was reported, the police and administration swung into action. Teams from the local administration, police, and other security agencies have been dispatched to the scene. However, due to the difficult mountainous terrain and geological conditions, it may take more than three hours to reach the scene, which is likely to delay the investigation.
Meanwhile, reports of an Indian Air Force aircraft crash began circulating on social media and some media platforms. However, an Indian Air Force spokesperson categorically dismissed these claims as misleading. He clarified that no aircraft crashed and urged people not to believe any unverified news.
At present, the cause of the explosion remains unclear. The administration has stated that the actual cause will only be ascertained after an on-site investigation. Vigilance has been increased in the entire area, and people have been urged to refrain from spreading rumors.
