Security agencies are continuously tightening their grip on the overground terror network in Jammu and Kashmir. In this connection, a special NIA court in Jammu has sent five accused of an alleged module linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) to 25 days of judicial custody. Two Pakistani nationals are also said to be involved.
According to investigating agencies, this network was engaged in providing logistical support, contacts, and other assistance to terrorists operating in the Valley and Jammu region. A few months ago, Kashmir Police exposed this network and arrested five people. Given the seriousness of the case, the investigation was later handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The NIA has registered a case against the accused under the UAPA, the Arms Act, and the Explosive Substances Act. On Monday, all the accused were produced in court via video conferencing. During the hearing, investigating officer DSP Amit Sharma requested 30 days of judicial custody from the court.
After studying the case diary and investigation report, the court concluded that prima facie the accused were involved in serious terrorist activities. Following this, the court ordered four of the accused to be sent to District Jail Ambphalla, Jammu, until June 4, 2026, while the fifth accused was sent to Central Jail Kot Bhalwal.
Security agencies say that this network may have links to terrorists sitting across the border. The investigation has also uncovered digital contacts, suspicious chats, and other technical evidence. The NIA is currently investigating other individuals involved in the case and potential networks.
