In a significant move regarding the high-profile case involving the nexus between Jammu and Kashmir DSP Davinder Singh and Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached two properties belonging to the accused, Shaheen Ahmad Lone, in the Kanispora area of Baramulla. This action is part of an ongoing campaign against networks that provide illegal weapons and financial assistance to terrorists.
According to official sources, the attached properties consist of two plots of land measuring 7.5 marlas and 6 marlas. Shaheen Ahmad Lone is one of the key accused in the case and is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.
NIA officials stated that the attachment of these properties was carried out based on an order issued by the special NIA court in Jammu. The action was taken under Section 33(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967.
According to the investigative agency, the case is linked to an alleged network involving the terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen and Pakistani intelligence agencies, aimed at promoting terrorist activities in India. The NIA is investigating the financial and logistical support systems of this entire network.
It is noteworthy that this case grabbed national headlines in 2020 when the then-DSP Davinder Singh was apprehended alongside Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists. Subsequently, the NIA took over the investigation and initiated action against several accused individuals.
The NIA has stated that action against the properties of individuals involved in terror-related cases will continue, and those providing any form of assistance to terror networks will be brought to justice.
