There is welcome news for the residents of the Jammu division, who have been grappling with scorching heat and rising humidity. According to the latest forecast by the Meteorological Department, significant rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely across most areas of the Jammu division on July 1 and 2. This is expected to bring substantial relief from the heat and humidity that have persisted for the past several days.
The Meteorological Department indicates that the weather will remain changeable between June 27 and June 30. During this period, conditions will fluctuate between bright sunshine and partly cloudy skies. While light rain or drizzle may occur in some places, the likelihood of widespread, relieving rainfall is higher on July 1 and 2.
On Friday, Jammu city experienced cloudy skies during the morning and evening, but as the day progressed, intense sunshine and humidity caused discomfort. However, a slight drop in temperature was recorded due to rainfall the previous day. On Friday, Jammu’s maximum temperature was recorded at 36.6°C and the minimum at 24.8°C; just a few days earlier, the temperature had reached 39°C.
Weather experts state that rainfall in high-altitude areas over the next 24 hours will bring cool, moist winds towards the plains, thereby reducing the intensity of the heat. Subsequently, the onset of good rainfall in early July is expected to make the weather even more pleasant. Key Temperatures (Degree Celsius)

Advisory for the Public
The Meteorological Department has advised people to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water during periods of intense heat and humidity and to avoid going out in the sun unnecessarily during the afternoon. Additionally, people are advised to stay in safe locations and keep track of official weather updates during the heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast for July 1 and 2.
If this forecast by the Meteorological Department proves accurate, the beginning of July will bring relief to the residents of Jammu, offering significant respite from the prolonged spell of heat and humidity.
