Jammu Police have achieved significant success in their ongoing campaign against the drug trade. Acting on intelligence, the Trikuta Nagar Police busted a drug smuggling network operating between Amritsar and Jammu. Two accused were arrested, and 12.72 grams of heroin along with ₹63,500 in cash were recovered from their possession. Additionally, a bank balance of approximately ₹9 lakh—suspected to be proceeds from drug smuggling—has been frozen during the investigation.
According to police officials, the operation began with the arrest of Arshdeep Singh, a resident of Amritsar, Punjab. A search of his person yielded 12.72 grams of heroin and ₹63,500 in cash. Preliminary interrogation revealed crucial information, prompting the police to expand the scope of the investigation.
The investigation led the police to Gaurav, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, Narwal (Jammu), who was subsequently arrested. Interrogation revealed that the accused held a bank account containing approximately ₹9 lakh. Suspecting that these funds were generated through drug smuggling, the police froze the account with immediate effect.
The police stated that this action is not limited merely to the arrest of the two individuals; it has also uncovered vital links in the drug supply network operating between Amritsar and Jammu. Efforts are now underway to identify and arrest other individuals connected to this network.
Jammu Police reiterated that the anti-drug campaign will continue unabated and that no smuggler will be spared in the effort to make society drug-free. The police also appealed to the public to report any information regarding drug smuggling or related activities in their vicinity immediately, so that collective efforts can save the youth from the grip of drug abuse. Police officials believe that such action will not only help curb drug trafficking but also prove to be a significant step towards saving the youth from the trap of drug abuse.
