Katra/Jammu: Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia on Monday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government of filing false cases against opposition leaders. He said the government is trying to pursue these cases despite court rulings.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra, Sisodia said that everyone knew from the beginning that the case related to Delhi’s liquor policy was fabricated. He said the court’s decision has brought the truth of the entire matter before the nation.
Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging the relief granted by the trial court to Arvind Kejriwal, Sisodia, and other accused in the Delhi excise policy case. The court has sought responses from all parties in the matter.
Sisodia said that the court’s order also questioned whether the case was even worth pursuing. He alleged that after receiving relief in the Central Bureau of Investigation case, attempts are now being made to pursue a parallel case through the Enforcement Directorate.
He stated that he was defamed, jailed, and his family and party were harassed in this case. However, the court’s decision has strengthened his faith in the justice system.
Regarding the recent violence during Holi in Delhi, Sisodia said that the current administration has failed to help the victims. He said that when the Aam Aadmi Party was in power, ministers themselves visited the families of the victims to help them.
Regarding the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party leader Mehraj Malik in Jammu and Kashmir, Sisodia accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of targeting opposition leaders. He said that Malik had been demanding schools and hospitals for the public, yet he has been kept in jail for a long time.
Sisodia said that in a democracy, government agencies should not be used to suppress the voice of the opposition and the law should be used in an impartial manner.
