Passengers on the Jammu-Pathankot rail route, which has been disrupted for nearly eight months, are now set to experience significant relief. Track restoration work on Railway Bridge No. 17 over the Ravi River has reached its final stages, and train operations will soon be fully normal on this route. The railway department has swiftly completed the bridge construction and track repair work, ensuring smooth and fast rail traffic in the coming days.
According to railway officials, the restoration of track on the bridge will eliminate delays in train movement between Jammu and Pathankot. For the past several months, passengers have been facing train changes, long waits, and alternative arrangements. Now, the completion of this project will directly benefit passengers and ensure more streamlined railway operations.
This restoration is considered particularly important in view of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. Millions of pilgrims visit Jammu every year, and rail service remains the primary mode of travel. Restoring the track will help the railways operate additional special trains and better manage passenger traffic.
Local residents and traders have also welcomed this decision. They say that the disruption in rail services had affected trade and daily commutes, but now that the situation has returned to normal, economic activities will also gain momentum.
The Railway Department states that the bridge and track are being thoroughly inspected for safety standards. If the testing is successful, regular train service will resume on this route soon.
