People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has said that the upcoming Amarnath Yatra is not just a religious event, but also an important opportunity to overcome the growing hatred, misunderstandings, and social polarization in the country. She said that this Yatra serves to strengthen mutual trust, brotherhood, and harmony between the people of Kashmir and other parts of the country.
Speaking to the media in Srinagar on Monday, Mehbooba Mufti said that during the 57-day Amarnath Yatra, starting on July 3, millions of devotees from across the country will reach Kashmir to visit Baba Barfani. Therefore, this occasion should not be limited to religious faith alone, but should also be seen as a means of promoting love and harmony among the people.
She said that the security and success of the Amarnath Yatra is not only the responsibility of the administration and security forces, but the common people of Kashmir also have an equally important role to play. Every pilgrim is a guest here, and it is our duty to ensure their safety and well-being.
Mehbooba Mufti, after meeting locals involved in the tourism and hospitality industry in the Pahalgam area, said that Kashmir’s hospitality is renowned throughout the country. When pilgrims share their experiences with others in the country, it strengthens Kashmir’s positive image and reduces the distance between people.
She said that in times of tension and polarization in society, events like the Amarnath Yatra can bring people closer together. Direct communication between locals and pilgrims helps dispel many misconceptions and rumors.
The PDP chief said that the Amarnath Yatra is not just a pilgrimage, but a symbol of coexistence, mutual respect, and communal harmony. She appealed to everyone to make the Yatra a success and spread the message of brotherhood.
