The ongoing agitation and tension in Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) are no longer confined to the local political situation; their impact is now visible in the political discourse of Jammu and Kashmir as well. Amidst protests centered on issues of rights, inflation, and political representation, questions are being raised here about why political parties and leaders in Kashmir remain relatively silent on these developments.
For some time now, local organizations and civil society groups have been staging continuous protests across various parts of POJK. Agitators allege that the region’s population is being denied adequate political rights and fair participation in decision-making processes. Simultaneously, there is intense debate regarding the actions and restrictions imposed by the Pakistani administration.
Political analysts observe that the situation in POJK has once again brought the region’s governance system into the spotlight. They believe that the surfacing of local discontent clearly indicates that the issues at play in the region are not merely economic but deeply political in nature.
Many social and political observers in Jammu and Kashmir note that discussions concerning Kashmir typically encompass the people living on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC). Consequently, a debate has emerged regarding the limited response from the local political leadership to the ongoing movement in POJK.
Experts suggest that if the agitation expands further in the coming days, its impact will not be limited to POJK alone; it could become a significant subject of political and diplomatic discourse across the entire region. For now, all eyes are fixed on how the situation evolves between the Pakistan government and the protesting groups.
