Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta, after paying obeisance at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on Saturday, expressed the possibility of creating a religious corridor between Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. He stated that efforts would be made in the near future to connect the two states through religious tourism, thereby offering greater convenience to pilgrims during their journeys.
Speaking to journalists after offering prayersāhaving arrived at the Vaishno Devi shrine with his familyāthe Governor noted that the religious and cultural ties between Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are deep-rooted and historic. Both states are home to numerous famous temples and centers of faith that attract lakhs of pilgrims annually.
He remarked that developing a religious corridor would boost pilgrimage tourism and strengthen cultural and social bonds between the two states. Pilgrims would be able to easily access major religious sites in Himachal Pradesh alongside their visits to Jammu & Kashmir.
Discussing the current situation in Jammu & Kashmir, Kavinder Gupta stated that the atmosphere of peace and development in the region has been strengthened through the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also prayed to Mata Rani for the continued peace, happiness, and prosperity of Jammu & Kashmir.
The Governor noted that the number of tourists and pilgrims visiting Himachal Pradesh is steadily rising. The state government is taking various measures to provide better amenities to travelers and strengthen tourism infrastructure. He also urged people to visit the religious and natural sites of Himachal Pradesh.
Kavinder Gupta emphasized that India’s civilization and culture are among the oldest in the world, and it is the collective responsibility of all citizens to promote and preserve the country’s religious heritage.
