The political controversy that erupted in the Bani area regarding Rameshwar Singh Thakur now appears to be escalating into a major public movement. Following the BJP’s protest and effigy burning in Bani, thousands of locals came out in support of the MLA and accused the BJP of engaging in “cheap politics.”
The controversy began with an alleged statement alleging that MLA Dr. Rameshwar Singh Thakur referred to a traditional dance program held in the Bhagan area as “Mujhra.” BJP workers protested in the Bani market, burning an effigy of the MLA, and demanding a public apology.
However, immediately following the protest, a large number of locals gathered in the Bani area in support of the MLA. Participants in the protest claimed that the posts and videos circulating on social media were “edited” and misrepresented to tarnish the MLA’s image.
Locals stated that Dr. Rameshwar Singh Thakur is one of the leaders who has seriously addressed the development and local issues of the Bani region. The protesters said that the BJP is distorting facts for political gain.
During the protest, people demanded a public apology from the BJP, saying that it is wrong to use cultural issues as a political weapon. Many also said that the people of the area stand firmly with the MLA and will not accept “defamation politics.”
