Preparations for the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 have reached their final stages in Jammu. This year, the Tawi Riverfront has been designated as the main hub for the pilgrimage, with a focus on pilgrim convenience, safety, and crowd management. A massive ‘tent city’ is being developed here by the administration, offering a one-stop facility for registration, token distribution, RFID card issuance, accommodation, meals, and medical services.
Construction of the tent city, stretching from the Bhagwati Nagar Fourth Bridge to the Warehouse area, is proceeding rapidly. The administration believes this arrangement will significantly reduce overcrowding at the Jammu railway station and other locations, while also providing a better experience for the pilgrims.
Facilities such as mobile toilets, drinking water, lighting, and security arrangements are being strengthened at the Tawi Riverfront. Police and security forces have been deployed across the area to ensure the safety of the pilgrims; entry is restricted, and no person or vehicle is allowed without authorization.
According to officials, token distribution for ‘current registration’ (on-the-spot registration) will begin on June 30, while the process of converting non-KYC registrations to e-KYC registrations will start on July 1. The pilgrimage will officially commence on July 3, and Jammu appears fully prepared for the event.
The administration claims that the Tawi Riverfront will serve not merely as a facilitation center but also as a special attraction for the pilgrims. Devotees visiting the site will enjoy a spiritual atmosphere alongside excellent amenities, ensuring they embark on the next leg of their journey with pleasant and memorable experiences from Jammu.
An atmosphere of enthusiasm prevails in Jammu city regarding the Amarnath Yatra, and preparations to welcome the pilgrims are in full swing amidst chants of ‘Bam-Bam Bhole’.
