Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra 2026, the administration has announced major decisions to improve facilities for pilgrims. The yatra will begin on July 3, and before that, the Anantnag administration has fixed the rates for ponies, palanquins, and private tents. The key highlight is that pilgrims staying in private tents for two or more consecutive days will get up to 30% discount on rent. These new rates will remain effective until July 27, after which the administration will review them.
Anantnag Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Moiduddin Bhat has clearly stated that strict action will be taken against service providers charging more than the fixed rates. Complaints could even lead to cancellation of permits.
According to the official notification, private tents will provide both ground and bed facilities. Pilgrims will also be given quilts, mattresses, blankets or sleeping bags, and pillows.
- Ground stay charges:
- Nunwan – ₹400
- Chandanwari – ₹400
- Sheshnag – ₹650
- Panjtarni – ₹750
- Bed facility charges:
- Nunwan – ₹550
- Chandanwari – ₹530
- Sheshnag – ₹750
- Panjtarni – ₹850
Additionally, palanquin service charges have been slightly increased. From Chandanwari to the holy cave, the fare for a six-person palanquin has been fixed at ₹20,600, compared to ₹20,000 last year.
The administration emphasized that providing better facilities and ensuring transparency during the yatra is a top priority, so that devotees from across the country face no inconvenience.
