In a significant move regarding a case where a government job was secured using a fake school leaving certificate, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Jammu Crime Branch has filed a charge sheet in court against a father and daughter. The investigating agency alleges that a forged educational certificate was used to obtain a government job in the Social Welfare Department at Khari (Ramban) in 2016, thereby defrauding the government system and causing a loss to the state exchequer.
According to reports, the case was registered based on a complaint filed by Khurshid Ahmed Naik, a resident of Sarachi, Tehsil Khari, District Ramban. Upon receiving the complaint, the EOW registered a case under sections related to fraud, forgery, fabrication of documents, and criminal conspiracy, and initiated a detailed investigation.
During the probe, officials uncovered evidence revealing that a school leaving certificate was allegedly forged specifically to secure the government job and was utilized during the recruitment process. The investigation further disclosed the involvement of another family member in the alleged fraud, who assisted in the preparation and use of the certificate.
Following the completion of the investigation, the EOW Jammu filed the charge sheet in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Ramban. Ghulam Nabi Naik and his daughter Shakila Bano, both residents of Khari, District Ramban, have been named as the accused in this case.
Faisal Qureshi, SSP of the Crime Branch EOW Jammu, stated that strict action would continue against those using forged documents to secure government jobs. He also appealed to the public to inform the police or relevant investigative agencies if they have information regarding such cases, ensuring that the guilty can be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The matter is currently sub judice, and further legal proceedings will continue based on the charge sheet submitted to the court.
