Jammu and Kashmir: Encounter breaks out between security forces and terrorists in Udhampur, one soldier martyred

A soldier was martyred in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in the high altitude area of Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir. The soldier was injured in the firing by terrorists during a search operation that began on Friday evening and later died in hospital

A soldier was martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. A search operation was underway in the high-altitude region of Udhampur. During the operation, terrorists opened fire on the army, injuring one soldier. The soldier was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officials said a search operation was launched late Friday evening in the Dudu-Basantgarh area of Udhampur and the Seoj Dhar forest border in Bhaderwah, Doda. The operation was jointly carried out by the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. During the search, militants opened fire, injuring one soldier. They said the soldier was taken to a hospital where he died.

Search for terrorists continues

Officials said a tight cordon was put in place overnight around the encounter site. The joint search operation resumed Saturday morning. Two to three terrorists are suspected to be hiding in the forest area. Officials said the search operation, aided by drones and dog squads, is still ongoing.

A search operation was also launched in Kishtwar, where a gunfight between militants and security forces has been ongoing since Friday night. However, no trace of the terrorists has been found yet.

News of Jaish terrorists hiding

The army and security forces have received information that two to three Jaish terrorists are hiding in the Udhampur area. Based on this information, the army is conducting a search operation throughout the area. According to officials, these terrorists have been attempting to infiltrate for some time. However, security forces have foiled their attempts. During this search operation, the police also conducted searches at eight locations in the valley, including Srinagar.
